Certificate of Approval for marriage in the UK

Post Fri Jan 29, 2010 2:47 am

Hi everyone!

My second topic! :)

My question is for all you Canadians who got married in the UK, and are on an Ancestry visa like me.... I've applied for my COA, and I'm wondering what sort of waiting time you had? I've heard 3, 4, 5 weeks and many, many months.

Didn't know I needed this when I started planning the wedding! Was only when I went to the registry office that I found out! It was received by the Home Office on the 18th of January.

My application situation is basically that I'm on my visa for another 4 years, my fiance and I have lived together for nearly a year, have been dating for nearly 2, known each other since we were quite young (not that they've asked any of that yet!).

Any advice, and your waiting times?

Thanks guys!!! xxxx
