Certification of Documents

Certification of Documents

Postby love2travel » Fri Nov 02, 2007 2:55 pm

Hi, Just wondering who you can use to certify all the documents needed for the Visa? I've read that it has to be from someone who is certified in the country you are coming from. Where would I find the list of approved people for Canada?

I was thinking I could use someone from the same list as I would for a passport. They've recently changed the rules so it's easier to find someone but will someone from this list do?

"Under the new policy, an eligible guarantor must:
Be a Canadian citizen 18 years of age or older;
Hold a five-year Canadian passport that is valid or has been expired for no more than one year;
Have been 16 years of age or older when they applied for their own passport; and
Have known the applicant personally for at least two years."

Thanks,
Angela

No you can't use someone who can be a guarnator. They're pretty strict about who certifies documents, so it's best to get it right.

You'll most likely have to go to a Notary or a lawyer or something. The cheapest route would be to use a notary. We did all our stuff through the same guy, paid him cash and got a pretty good deal. Still really expensive though.

You might be able to get a good deal through a lawer if you also plan on selling a house through them.

Anyway, have a look here:

If you're in doubt call the Australia High Commission in Australia. They can answer most of your questions.

Somehwere on this site will be some contact information.

Thanks for the info, thought it would be too good to be true and that I'd need a lawyer or a notary. We have sold our house so I'll check with our lawyer.

Thanks.
