I have a very similar question...
I am a Canadian citizen who has been living in the
UK for the past 2 years. I am marrying a Canadian citizen (who has been living in
Namibia for the past 2 years) in Canada (Ontario) this coming August. I would like to change my surname after getting married. This would be a simple process if I lived in Ontario. However, at the end ofJuly, I will be moving to Zurich,
Switzerland for a new job.
The information I have found online (Ontario Government website) states that I need to submit my birth certificate, marriage certificate, and "a statement by a guarantor who knows the applicant and can confirm that he/she has lived in Ontario for at least one year prior to the application date". This final request is the problem as I haven't been living in Canada since 2008.
How do I go about applying for a name change while I live abroad? I'm hoping someone has gone through this process and provide any useful links/contacts.
Thanks!!!
