Cheap accommodations Southern coast of France

Cheap accommodations Southern coast of France

Postby tool09 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 9:45 am

Me and 3 friends are backpacking through Western Europe and want to finish our trip spending some relaxing time on the beaches of southern France. Our worry is that we will be spending an arm and leg on our accommodations. If there are any places people might know about that are not to unreasonable it would be much appreciated. Thanks Nick

When I was in Europe last summer I did some couchsurfing. Couchsurfing is a ever-growing network of individuals who open up their homes (and quite literally often thier couches) to travelers for free. It is a system of reciprocity and a great way to meet locals and get a taste of real culture, not just the tourist stript. For more info check out www.couchsurfing.com. I've had some great expereiences as a host and as a surfer.

Take a tent, there are lots of campgrounds. I think that's the main way to do it inexpensively. Yeah, you'll need to take a bus to the beach, and when you see what the traffic is like and you're sat in your nice roomy bus you'll be glad you did...

Try a website called riviera anglo info:

riviera.angloinfo.com

It is a bit confusing: click on Classifieds in the left hand column, then click on Property for Rent in the right hand column. Note that there are commercial classified ads as well as free postings - you are likely to be more interested in the free postings.

You might find something here, depending on how long you want to stay for.

Good luck!
