Cheap Flights back to Canada

Post Tue Jul 14, 2009 3:02 pm

Does anyone know which Airline, or which company offers low-cost flights from the UK to Canada?

I used to use Zoom Airlines for really really cheap flights from London back to my hometown Winnipeg; however they have since closed shop and are no longer running. So I was wondering if there was an alternative.

I would appreciate any tips.

Flyglobespan is supposed to be pretty cheap, and they fly to Calgary, Vancouver, Halifax and Hamilton (in the GTA).

Thanks for the link, you are right, they are really cheap. However, I need to get to Winnipeg. Any suggestions? I may just need to get a connecting flight to Wpg.

You can catch a connecting flight on WestJet from Calgary, Vancouver or Hamilton to Winnipeg.

Does anyone know when the best time to book a flight is? Is it cheaper the earlier you book or does it get cheaper the longer you leave it?

I am planning on traveling in Mid-October, so when is the best time to get a good deal?

Generally, the sooner you book, the better, in terms of price. Occasionally there may be some last-minute discounts, but these are never guaranteed. So if you plan on leaving in October and you want to get a good price, I would start looking now.

Also, Tuesdays and Wednesdays seem to be the cheapest days to fly.

Having had a succession of very bad experiences with Thomas Cook :-X , I'm now looking for alternative flights back home for a visit. I'd be really grateful for any suggestions!

I live in Sheffield and need to get to Toronto (well, Thunder Bay ultimately, but it's easiest to go through TO usually).

It seems if I want to fly out of Manchester or B'ham I'm stuck with Thomas Cook or Air Transat, whom I refuse to fork out to any more.

Can anyone help?
Thanks!

We are flying from Toronto - Brussels - Birmingham on Jet Airlines/Brussels Airlines. It was remarkably cheap!

My mother is using Canadian Affair later to do a Toronto BHX return flight. Fairly cheap too.

Cheers,

Simon

If you book through www.canadianaffair.com the cheapest time to book is 1-2 weeks before you fly. My partner's dad came to visit us in October and his return flight was only $450 including all taxes (Calgary to Manchester). He bought it about 10 days before he left, and is retired to the exact times/dates of his flights didn't really matter. The flights actually get cheaper as it gets closer to the date, and its a really great site to use if you're timeline is a little bit flexible.
Keep reinventing yourself.
