Cheap Moving Trailers

Post Fri May 08, 2009 9:20 am

Hey All,

Im in San Diego, moving back to K-W, Ontario. I just went to book a small UHaul trailer for the move. It's going to cost almost $500 for UHauls smallest trailer (4' x 8'). Doesn anyone know of any other companys that rent small moving trailers?
Im thinking I'll probably just bite the bullet and do it. It sucks though because when I moved out here in October, the trailer was only $150.
Thanks!

U-Haul is usually your only option because no-one else will let you take the trailer across the border.

Yep, unfortunately, U-Haul is the only company that will let you do cross border one-way moves. No other rental company will let you take their vehicles or trailers across the border.

Buy a used one on craigslist.com. inspect the bearings, repack-em, inspect the tires and lights, Make sure you have a spare tire. You could find a trailer for cheap, I saw a nice 4'x8' flatbed trailer for $100 down the street from my house. Its a nice trailer. If your interested ill post some pics of it. Sell it when you get there, or keep it. At least you'll have something to show for the money spent. I live in Hesperia if you want some help with it.

Thanks for the tip Maveric. I'd need an enclosed trailer, is that one enclosed or a flatbed?
It would have to be a pretty good deal... would a trailer this size need to be licensed/insured in CA in order to transfer the ownership?
