Cheapest way to get to Kosovo (Serbia) from the UK

Post Sat Apr 07, 2007 2:18 pm

I'm going to be in the UK at the begining of this summer, and then I am heading down to Pristina in Kosovo a bit latter. I'm just wondering how I go about getting there. I could fly from London, but that will end up costing around $700 dollars. However, if I take Ryan air to Italy, or Slovenia or Crotia and then take the bus from there I'll end up saving around $500 probably. I just need to know how to find out prices for buses in the Balkans, and if that is the cheapest way to do it. Any ideas?

I am NOT speaking from experience here, but is Euro Rail an option.
I've heard good things, good luck.

Eurorail

Just from poking around online Eurorail seems to be rather expensive. Is there anything cheaper?

The best option is to take a budget European airline like you mentioned, Ryan Air et al. What you want to do is do a quick google search for the national rail or bus company of the country you're going to in order to see what the fares are like. I'm positive you'll find that it'll be significantly cheaper than $700 (which is a lot if money doesn't grow on the tree in your backyard.)

From my own experience, I've found that flying out to airports which are out of the way and then taking the train to your destination is a money-saver however, I've never done so in the country you mentioned. I digress upon Eurail. Look for the national train companies instead. 110% gaurenteed that it'll be cheaper than Eurail. Good luck!
