children born in canada to u.s. parent

Postby jenn8011 » Wed Jan 28, 2009 5:02 pm

does anyone know how i would go about getting dual citizenship for my kids? their father is a u.s. citizen but we are estranged. i do however, have constant contact with his parents and they would supply me with any documentation i would need. can you tell me if my kids would qualify for dual citizenship and be able to immigrate to the u.s. if we chose to do so? i appreciate your help, this is a great site! :D

Make an appointment at the nearest US consulate and ask for the forms to register their birth abroad.

You will also need documentation that proves their father is a US citizen, and there are other qualification to be met as well.
