citizenship

Hi Guys. I have searched various UK - Canada govt websites and none seem to be exactly clear. I am a naturalised Canadian living in UK for a few years.

1 Can anyone show me an official link that states that I cannot lose my Canadian citizenship under any circumstance.

2 My Canadian citizenship card is a treasured possession but it is my only proof of citizenship. IF I lost it, Passport Canada apparently issues a limited validity passport to allow me back to Canada. This is a great comfort but how do they make sure my claim to citizenship is bona fide. In other words what proof do they use to issue the limited validity passport or is it just based on my oath.

My reasons for asking is because we intend to return 2009 but may be delayed by unforeseen circumstances and I would have to renew my passport.

You cannot lose your citizenship unless you renounce it. I'm sure if you have a poke around on the CIC website you'll find the info.

You can apply for a citizenship certificate if you want. If you've been naturalized, CIC will have the records so I wouldn't worry about it.
Steve.
