LOL, do you follow American politics at all? Have you ever set foot in the US? Before you make those statements, I think you ought to do your research. I have lived both in the US and Canada by the way so I qualify to give some statements. I have traveled back and forth between the two countries prior to my relocation (been to Hawaii, California, New York, NJ, MI, FL, IL etc).
"Stupid politicians"
In Canada, we are surrounded by American media so I'm surprised you did not know this. Did you watch the bickering between the two parties last summer about the debt ceiling that cost the US credit rating to be downgraded to AA+ by S&P? By the way, Canada remains AAA, the gold standard. In addition, the Canadian economy is doing better than the US economy because of the stable banking system and the controls that the so called "stupid Canadian politicians" put in place. Check the international business news and many regard Canada highly. Also, don't forget the sub-prime debt crisis that started it all back in 2008. There is no such thing in Canada as again, apparently the stupid Canadian politicians did their job.
"The monarchy"
Haha, not much to say about this other than it does not really affect Canadians negatively or positively. It's just part of the history and culture...mostly ceremonial. I'm neutral about this.
"The weather"
This is the only thing that I agree with you But in Canada, you can take a vacation in the winter if you can afford to. One of the perks of being Canadian.
"Overpaying for everything and the taxes"
Believe it or not, I was surprised to get my first pay stub. I am paying more US taxes than back in Canada. Sure, the federal portion is lower but there are many surtax on city services, state service, SS etc.
The thing that I love about the US is cheaper goods and I like the people as well. I also love the fact that I can travel to my favorite US cities very cheap. I moved to the US, not because I dislike Canada and I was not happy with my life back then.
