Confirmation of Arrival From Ottawa

Hello there,
Any help much appreciated - please can someone tell me if you definately are supposed to get confirmation from Ottawa if they have received an Unmarried Partner Visa through the post?
My boyfriend checked the post through the postal website and it had been signed for but the signature was illegible and when he called them (through World Bridge), they were unable to confirm that they had received the application.

Yes, you should get a confirmation from Ottawa through e-mail. I just did my spouse visa and the day after i did my biometrics they sent me an e-mail saying that they have received my documents in Ottawa and an entry clearance officer will begin processing my documents which could take up to 50 business days for settlement applications. It didn't take 3 months to get my visa though only 7 business days. Hope this helps.
