connecting flights though the USA?

I am a canadian citizen with a record for mischief under $5000 and I am trying to get to mexico this winter but I am having a hard time finding direct flights. Will I have any trouble making a connecting flight that lands in the states?

Only if your conviction is listed in CPIC. Single criminal offences generally don't prevent you from entering the US unless they're to do with "immoral" activities or are drug-related.
