Considering Bermuda?

Postby JG » Thu Aug 02, 2007 8:29 pm

Hey. I'm considering making the move down to Bermuda for a few yrs to work. have a few Q's though.

What is the lifestyle like? Is the general population young, old? I'm in my late 20's. just curious as to how I would fit in?

Also, I realize living expenses are high, but that income taxes are low. So do they offset each other?

Hi JG,

Don't worry about your age, you'll fit in just fine.
Do you have an offer from a company down here?
What's your profession/field?

It is very expensive down here, but if it was un-livable no one would come.
It is getting tougher for recruitment agencies to place people from Canada because of the strong CDN$ . . . read this article (http://www.canadians.bm/content/view/300/24/).

LMK if you have any more questions.

Cheers,
W.

Don't expect an easy time. The ex-pats, professional or not, work their butts off here. we have been here 3 months and work harder/longer days than we did back home. Beaches are nice; people are generally rude if they know/suspect you are an ex-pat; cost of living is shocking (no taxes - BS - the COL offsets the savings. Rent - OMG - unbelievable what they expect/get for rent here.
