My sister lives in Winnipeg and works as a caregiver for $10/ hour. She's sharing an apartment with two other girls. For three years, she barely had enough savings for herself.

The cost of living in Canada is High!!, if you would gross $2500 a month, you would net/bring in appx. $1800-$1900 a month...the average rent of a bachelor pad(calgary, alberta) is averaging around $900- and upwards, food costs are ridiculously high, unless you can be extremely diligent in your grocery costs...movie theatre costs are stupid, this is why the majority of canadians are now doing the home video on demand, where the whole family/friends can watch at once in the comfort of your home for a fee of only $5.99, whereas compared to going to a movie theatre will cost you at least $30.00 per person,(ticket, popcorn, drink etc), restaurants can be extremely costly here, but there are several places you can get a decent meal for around $15.00 per person, some places even less, like McDonalds, haha!...even with what i`ve said, Canada is thee most gorgeous country in the world, so much to offer, and the people are VERY FRIENDLY!!, not only that if you`d initially only be making $2500/month, the chances of advancement and raises come quickly, provided you are a dedicated and proficient and an exemplary employee....hope this helps you, and good luck in Canada, you`ll love it here!!, I am referring to Calgarians, haha, i have no idea about the rest of canada, except i do know BC is STUPIDLY EXPENSIVE, and no work to be found, and the wages there are real low.
