Cost of UK Fiancee Visa and other issues

Post Sun Nov 09, 2008 4:20 pm

Hello. Could anyone help me on this matter.

I am a UK citizen serving with the Armed Forces.

Could anyone tell me how much the application for a UK Fiancee visa would cost for my Canadian Fiancee? She is wanting to apply for the visa online and would like to know how much it costs before submitting it.

Also could anyone help on how long the application could take and any supporting documents we would need. The websites all seem a bit too confusing at times!

Any other info would be greatly much appreciated too

Thank you
Chris

go to www.visainfoservices.com and select canada from the drop-down box. the fee for applicants who live in canada is currently cad 1,082. the visa u want is a fiancée visa (also called a marriage visa), in the settlement category of visas. i'm assuming that ur fiancée lives in canada and will be having her biometric data taken there. in canada, online application for the visa is compulsory.

Thanks for your reply. Yes she lives in Canada and will get her biometric data done there. What information is need for biometric data? Is there anything else that we need to know or keep a close check on? We hope it all goes through smoothly.

It will be simple and quick and will not delay your visa application
Enrolment will simply mean presenting fingers on a glass screen, plus having a digital photograph taken; no ink, no mess. It will take less than five minutes and will not delay the decision on your application.

there is a lot of stuff needed. one simple thing that u can do quickly to expedite ur fiancée's application is to take a photocopy of ur own passport photo page plus any pages that show canadian entry and exit stamps (or any stamps of places that ur fiancée and u have visited together). after u do this, take the passport and copies to a solicitor or notary and ask for the copies to be certified as genuine - this cost me £5. this goes some way toward providing the requested documentary evidence that ur fiancée and u have actually met and spent time together. as further evidence, u can print out the e-tickets for any relevant flights (this is what we did).
