cottages in bermuda

Post Thu May 25, 2006 2:03 pm

I remember the last time in Bermuda we spent some time at a cottage close to the beach. We actually ran into some Canadians from Nova Scotia who worked at one of the Computer Centres and a doctor who had a relative in Truro, Nova Scotia. I did not realize that there was such a close connection between Bermuda and Nova Scotia until I started investigating some of the common associations that people belong to. My question is what cottages could people recommend that are close to the capital. Thanks.

Hey there,

I was/am too surprised about the close link between Bermuda & Canada, a good portion of the locals who decided on University travel to Canada to study. (They're not big on the winters though 8))

Hamilton is the capital of BDA, because of the working infrastructure (roads, traffic, etc.) there's not a lot of good beaches within walking distance of it.
The most popular beach is Horsehoe Bay, it is about 25-30 mins. (bus ride) from Hamilton.
In all fairness rumour has it that de rock is only about 1 mile wide at its widest spot (I think it closer to 2), therefore you're never really far from the ocean.

As far as cottages go I stayed at a place called "Oxford House" upon my interview process, it is a great part of Hamilton & a very nice stay to boot.
Many of the beaches have resorts/hotels near by (of course) some popular names being "Arial Sands" & "Princess Hotel", but of course you need to find one for your budget.
Check out www.bermudayp.com for more in-depth info.

Cheers!

Would recommend Ariel Sands, owned by Michael Douglas, but it is very expensive.
