Credential Evaluation

Post Fri Jan 27, 2012 7:39 pm

So I am trying to move down to the states to be with my bf (same old story). Marriage is not an option for personal reasons and really neither of us believe in it. So I am trying to get a TN visa. And then apply for the H1b when the next round comes up. My position doesn't really exist in the states so the lawyer suggested I get a credential evaluation done. Does anyone have a place they recommend? Most of the places I find are either confusing or designed for Canadian Immigration.

Heck does anyone have any advice... I am kinda hitting brick walls and its rather depressing.

You job MUST be on the TN list, so there is no "creating" involved.

Either you have an offer for a job on the TN list, and you have theeducational background for it, or you don't.

So, what TN category are you hoping to get, and what educational credentials do you have that meet that category?

Thank you!

I am an architectural technologist. So gonna try to get in as an engineering technologist as architecture is on the list. I work with people who have worked in the states and are the same as me so it can be done.

On the basis that you have an accredited 3-year diploma as well as a provincial license (registered Technologist) then under NAFTA this would be considered doable I think.

Make sure you are not just a drafter, but can show & prove the designer type work

As you mentioned others you know have done it, so best you speak to them and ask what their application type was that got them in

Ok cool thank you.

I do have three year diploma but am not registered for any license as its all pretty much a waste of money. But I do have 6 years working experience. I am far from a drafter at this point.
