credentials evaluation for TN Visa, only the highest degree?

Post Tue Mar 01, 2011 9:19 am

Hi Pals, i have a master's degree from a Canadian university and a bachelor's degree from overseas. If I want to apply for a TN visa, do i still have to do the evaluation for my bachelor's degree? Can I just bring my master's degree?

If the bachelors and masters degree are closely related to each other and to the TN category for which you are applying, then taking both degreess as they are should be suffcient.
Otherwise, especially if you are either using an unrelated degree or your bachelor degree is the only related degree, then you need an eval.

Ex: If you have both a Bach and ME in Engineering and are applying for a software engineering postion, you're fine. If you have Bach Eng and and MBA and are applying for engineering job, get an eval.

If you bachelors is non-English, you should get an eval in any event for future use.

Thank you, Agnelson, for your detailed reply. My bachelor and master's degree are in the same field, therefore I guess it should be fine. The only thing is my bachelor's degree is non-English in the original copy but it is accompanied with a translated one. I am considering bring both copies of the bachelor one.
