credit card

Well, I got my TN1 visa approved, and am now onto the next hurdle of getting a credit card in the US. Through the forum I found out had I gotten a Canadian AMEX, I could have transferred it to the US - but I never got one before I left.

My only option seems to be a secured credit card, but there are so many out there, and they all come with different fees. Does anyone have any experience with any of them? Are there any suggestions as to which ones are more commonly used?

Thanks

I got a secured card when I opened a bank account, it was alright with the exception of the low limit (based on what I was willing to put down for security), but the rate was average (13%ish I think), and since it was through my bank there was no annual fee. After a year they returned the security deposit and increased the limit saying I had "graduated" to a grown up card. yeah...
