Cuba trip affecting H-1B application?

I'm Canadian and went on a trip to Cuba earlier this year. I will apply for an H1-B visa for a university position later this year. Should I mention the Cuba trip on the visa application? If I do, will I be prevented from receiving the visa?

Of course not. You were not under any restrictions at the time you went to Cuba, since you were not a US person.

Rememebr though, that once you live in US (regardless of immig status), you will not be able to leaglly visit Cuba without explicit State dept permission, otherwise you will be in violation of obne or more economic embargos.

But, until then, you are fine.
