Current student has job lined up for the summer...

Post Sun Mar 22, 2009 10:37 am

I've looked through quite a few topics and haven't seen a situation exactly like this so i'm making a new one. I apologize in advance if someone has already asked this question.

I live in Orlando, FL and my girlfriend (a Canadian citizen) lives in Toronto, but goes to school in Ottawa. She's having a hard time lining up a job for the summer up there and my boss has offered her a summer internship. What would she have to do to make this work? She'd be here from mid-May to mid-August.

I'm guessing she won't qualify for TN, H1 or H2 visa because she doesn't have her degree yet. What would need to be done and is it too late already?

Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks :D

Try SWAP Canada. The website is swap dot ca (can't post links but type it into your browser). It provides visas to undergraduate students to work in various countries for varying amounts of time. I used it in 2002 for the US. It provides a J-1 visa for up to 4 months and can be used for pretty much any employer. All the info is on the website.

Thanks a bunch! :) Had looked at that website but wanted to see if there are any other options out there because of the fees involved.

Aiyana I don't understand how your post is relevant to NotANudist's question?
