Currently on TN Applied for H1, now employer is changing

Hi All:
I have been on a TN with my current employer for a few yrs.
This year they applied for H1-B for me (my TN is still active), and my H1 is currently in process.
I am going to be Switching from my current Employer (soon). I have a couple of offers from other companies.
1. So in this juncture I want to Apply for TN based on the New company (once I get a offer letter)
- Will the fact that I have a H1 application affect my TN application or the Immigration Officer's decision ?
2. Should I ask my current employer to cancel my H1 Application (was filed back in Mar'09), does this have any ill effects on TN or future H1s ?

Just abandon the application and apply for the TN-1. There's no particular reason why they would care about the abandoned application, they get to keep the money depending on where you are with it.
