Hi there,
This forum has been super useful and just wanted to thank everyone for their posts and input. So after some research and figuring stuff out, I just was wondering if someone might be able to confirm or provide their thoughts.
I'm heading to Sydney on a 457 Visa. My condo is in the process of being sold. Getting rid of my furniture and things. I'll still have my Canadian bank accounts, RRSPs, and drivers license. Since I am heading to Australia which has a tax treaty I beleive I should be considered a "deemded non resident". Is my inturpretation correct? I have no dependants and am not married. I saw the term "no house no spouse" so I think I should be good.
So come early 2011 I would file a tax return and say I'm a deemed non resident? does this sound correct? From reading the Emigrants guide I'd fill out the T1 from Ontario (since that is where I reside)?
Plus I would contact all my financial institutions and tell them I am a Non-Res?
Any insight would be appreciated.
Cheers,
F
