The rule of thumb in U.S. immigration law is that you are considered to be an intending immigrant unless you can prove otherwise. I am assuming that you already applied to adjust your status in the U.S. as a conditional relative and were waiting for an interview. If I am correct in this, then your file will be transferred to Canada and you will have your immigrant visa interview, after a lot more time has passed, with the U.S. consulate in Montreal.
