Do I need a return flight with my YMS Visa?

Post Mon Jun 27, 2011 6:18 am

I am planning to go th ethe UK in September for 2 years...not knowing when I wiill go back to Canada.
Some people told me I should be buying a return flight. Which is next to impossible, when I don't plan on going home after I get there and Return flights usually expire after 1 year. Will immigration or customs at the airport say anything to me if I arrive with just a 1 way ticket??

Hi,

I've been speaking with a recruiting company about this and they've told me that purchasing a one-way flight is just fine. I'm going to double-check this with the officials when I do my biometric stuff, but as far as I know, you DON'T need a return flight.

I only bought a 1-way ticket. I was going to buy a roundtrip ticket because it is cheaper but I found a flight for $527 with taxes one-way with Icelandair (with 9 hours in Iceland - can't wait!). Who knows when you'll want to come home to visit or whatever so there isn't really a point to buying a RT ticket. I'm sure immigration officers completely understand this.
