Do I need a visa to live in the U.S.? Candian husband got TN

Post Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:29 am

Hello,

I was wondering if someone might be willing to help me. I am very confused about what I should be doing prior to moving to the United states. My husband and I are both Canadians. My husband got a TN visa and he's already left to go to work in California. I want to join him and I already know I will not be allowed to work and it looks like I do not need a Visa. Is that correct? I am very afraid to show up at the border or the airport and miss my flight due to some information I didn't have. Could someone please help me?

Thank you

Cdns do not get visas from the consulates, BUT you do need to get TD status at entry time. You need to show photocopy of his TN (I-94) and proof of marriage.
