Do I need to return my old TN?

Post Fri Dec 05, 2008 8:37 pm

Hi,

I applied a new TN a few weeks back due to job change. Since I still needed to work for my previous employer for 2 more weeks, the officer did not take my old TN away and asked me to go to nearby international airport to submit the old TN in person. In the past, officers asked to mail the old one back to border. But this officer insisted me that I need to return the old TN in person.

Is this really necessary? My concern is if I go to the airport and submit the old TN, the officer may simply throw it away. Then I have no record or confirmation of returning my old TN. What should i do?

Thanks, -Dale

Are you talking about the I-94? The instructions are on the back of it. If you end up with two because of some weirdness, mail the old one to the service centre in Kentucky.

Yes, I-94. The instructions on the back say "you must surrender it when you leave the U.S.". While this is not the case, do I need to return it?

uscis.gov web shows this addr:

All other I-129 Cases:

Premium Processing Service
USCIS

Vermont Service Center

ATTN: I-129

30 Houghton Street

St. Albans. VT 05478-2399

should i mail it here? or it does not matter since it would expire in a few months?

Thanks Steve.

No, you send it here:

ACS Inc.
1084 South Laurel Rd.
London, Kentucky 40742
USA

Make sure you include a letter explaining why you didn't surrender it when you left.
