Do Lawful Permanent Residence Cards Expire?

Postby kenkor » Mon Mar 31, 2008 11:59 am

Can someone please help me with this question, and are their different types of LPR's? Is this also known as a 'Green Card"?
Thanks

Yes, they're called green cards, although they're sort of an off-white colour now and they used to be pink. Back in the early 1970s they were green. The expiry date is printed on the card, there are different lengths of validity depending on the category you entered in, when you renewed it, etc.

I believe there are 2 lengths of validity of "green cards". 2 years conditional residency, and 10 years permanent residency. If you have a 2 year card, you have to apply to remove conditions (before it expires!) in order to get he 10 year card.
