Do you need a work permit as a Working Holidaymaker??

Post Tue Jan 18, 2005 2:32 pm

Sorry.. more confusion..

I already have my Working Holiday Visa, but what is the process for getting a job?? Not in terms of finding one.. More like.. I have to get a NIN.. But do I need a permit to work? Are there special provisions I have to make, or that my boss will have to make in order to work? Will I have to register anywhere? Or apply for permission somewhere? Or will my employer have to do anything??

Thanks!

Nataly :)

No, I have a Working Holiday visa as well, and I haven't needed a work permit. You will need a NIN, which you can apply for at your local Job Centre.

However, if you're looking to get an extension of stay, you will first have to apply for a work permit. I'm currently in the process of doing this - or rather, my employer is (you can't apply on your own behalf).

Hope this helps!
