Do you really need an EU passport to work in France?

Do you really need an EU passport to work in France?

Hi everyone -

We are Canadians, with Canadian passports. We really want to make a move somewhere outside of Canada to experience life and living abroad. Since I am a teacher (English/French) I'm hoping to be able to use that in my favour.

Is it absolutely necessary to have an EU passport to work anywhere in France? We'd love to relocate to someplace in southern France, Provence for example.

Any advice? Thanks!!

Obviously, one can immigrate to france without being a member of the EU. One would however, need a work permit, which EU members do not need.

Unfortunately, Non-EU citizens are not permitted to teach in public schools, which would make things très difficile in your case.
