Taxes in BC and Alberta are lower than back east, if you take into account US healthcare costs, running a business is cheaper out west than anywhere in the US I can think of. At least that was the conclusion I came to.

Orignally from Pakistan, a Canadian citizen and living in the US. I think i would love to go back to Canada, just trying to save a penny or two. Its funny how its dropped down to litrally saving a penny or two now a days.

I don't see much difference between Canada and the US. I think its the same people i don't see much difference between downtown Toronto or Downtown Chicago.

Their is something about Canada that i do miss i don't actually know what it is its a gap i wish i could figure it out when i go back to Canada i just feel like home.

Thanks

Yeah I know, I know but with the goals I have in mind, my market is clearly in the U.S. for ex: Miami, NY, Chicago and even Toronto. It's just the potential dollar value would make more sense in the U.S....

When I retire, it will be in the Caribbean 8)

If my wife and I could easily find work in our field there (such as getting our old jobs back), I think we would return. I miss it quite a bit. I went up to Ottawa in March to process my TN and visit with a friend, and it just feels more like home. I'm okay with Atlanta... my wife and I remark that there are a lot of similarities between Atlanta and Toronto (all the highways here have 400-series state highway numbers! 401, 403, 407!), but the basic feel of the city is just different.

Dear Reba,

I'm in much the same situation as you, being married to a non-Canadian. He is from Perth (Australia), and that's where we are right now. I really want to move back to BC, though! ... and I miss Shreddies, too :D

Just a hunch, but Perth may be a bit more tolerable than Bible Belt USA. ;)

When was the last time someone had a cross burned on their front yard in Australia?

Well, I remember that big stink about all the discrimination against the Lebanese immigrants which led to a lot of people winding up in hospital, so I don't think the US has a monopoly on race related violence.

Yes, I really want to return to Canada and agree with everyone that live is much better there. I also like Germany, I am originally German, but grew up in Canada. My husband is German too but didn't live in Canada very long. We do have a home there still. My aging mother is there too and that's why I want to go back home when we retire.
I just don't know how difficult that will be. We have been permanent resident of the US for 18 years. I am a Canadian Citizen and I wonder if I can just move back to Canada wih all my belongings or do I have to apply for re-enty. My husband is a German citizen - can he move with me or does he have to apply for immigration from the US. Someone on some forum said he could go with me and apply from within Canada. I have been trying to get information from Canadian Immigration but have not been able to speak to a living person (everything is so automated). Wrote emails to the embassy in Washington, etc and all I get back is "visit the website" which has no information specific to our situation. I can't find a phone number to talk to an immigration expert
or get any REAL ANSWERS TO ANYTHING.
ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WHAT i COULD DO OR HAVE AN ANSWER FOR ME?By the way, how do I go about posting my own message?
I just cannot find how to do that.
