Documents you need for working in the UK

Post Thu Nov 08, 2007 4:18 pm

I plan on applying fo Dual Nationality, however I wanted to know if there are any other documents I need to work. Like for example, in Canada everyone must have a S.I.N. card otherwise they can't get a job. So does anyone know what I need, and how I go about getting it? Thanks.

Aside from your passport that allows you to work in the UK (presumably the second citizenship you are acquiring is British or from an EU country), the only other thing you need is your National Insurance number.

Try this for more info --> http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAnd ... G_10014073

Good luck!

Some employers will take you on if you don't have a National Insurance Number but are in the process of trying to get one. You'll be emergency taxed to death though :(

When you go for your NIN interview you'll have to show that you're employed or looking for work, so if you haven't got a job at that time just make sure to take along any job applications or responses to applications you've received.
