Hello!

My husband and I have just moved to Doha to teach for a year.and we are bored! Have you been in touch with the Canadians in Qatar social group? Do you get together with any other Canadians?
Thanks!

Hello

I have met a few Canadians in Doha that I meet up with. Canadians are hard to spot in this country although I know there are many of us here.

I can't agree more that it can get really boring in Doha. I did come across a message board that listed some social events for Canadians, however it mentioned there were no events over the summer period. Apparently, they start back up in September. I will get you the URL address for this message board. I am not sure though how good the message board is or how many events are coordinated.

How long have you been here? Perhaps I can recommend some things for you do?

I will track down that message board again and get you the information.

Best regards
Christine

Thanks for the replies! We have been here three weeks now. If the weather was a little less HOT we'd go exploring, but now that the humidity has set it, we've been avoiding going out at night too. Once it gets cooler we'll be able to travel around a bit more. Would just like to find people to meet up with for now!
We're also looking for a car to buy or rent.any suggestions on that from anyone?
Thanks!

Planning on getting a job in Doha

I am thinking of getting a job
and moving to Doha along with my
15 year old son. My husband will
be coming later that is after 6
months. I want to come early so
my son can start school ASAP.
Currently I work as an Admin/
clerk in Ontario.
Any piece of advice and guidance
would be appreciated. Can women
work and stay alone in Qatar
without her husband. How easy is
it to find a job for women. :x Are
there any organizations which can
help me. Thanks for your time.

Hi all,

I'm considering moving to Doha with my family. In advance of doing any salary negotiations, I'd really love to get a sense of what a good salary is in Doha. I have about 10 years of experience in my field (marketing and public relations).can anyone give me a sense of what I can expect in terms of a salary? Any help is much appreciated!
