Donairs in England? (Not Doners!)

Post Mon Mar 23, 2009 12:04 pm

Anyone here know the Canadian Donair? It's a spicey, beefy heart attack wrapped in a pita with sliced tomatoes and onions. It can be eaten traditionally with sweet sauce (evaporated milk, sugar, vinegar, and garlic) or with tzaziki or (how I like them) with both sauces.

I got excited when I was met with the Doner Kebab but almost vomited upon tasting the salty sickness.

I've got a recipe for a proper Canadian Donair but it's so much better when it's on a rotisserie, freshly sliced.

I'm living in the East Midlands (Nottingham) and would love to have a nice, hearty Donair! I'm almost thinking of going to a doner shop and giving them the recipe in hopes they'll start making it.
