Drivers License

My Drivers License expired back in January. Is there any way I can renew it while I'm in abroad? I probably won't go back to Canada for another year or so. thanx.

Well it depends who told you that and where you are from. from Canada you can just exchange it. from the US depending on the states you can exchange it, do a theoric test or a theoric and practical test.

To exchange it you just need to go to your local Landratsamt. If it works like it did for me. they will give you a paper, you will need to go to your local Burgeramt (where you registered) so they can fill this paper. They will mail it to the Landratsamt. you will receive a letter saying you need to give your current license to the Landratsamt. Then you will receive another letter saying you can pick up your license.

I know it's complicated. but it's like that in Germany Wink All this take between 4-6 weeks Wink

Good luck Smile
