DRIVING CAR IN BUSINESS TRIP TO US

Post Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:08 am

Hi,
I am canadian citizen, and travelling to Missouri, US on business trip for couple of months, my company is providing me a rental car from airport. My question is can I use my Manitoba driving licence to drive in US for this couple of months. How does the insurance works? Do I need to take insurance in US, Also anyother paperwork needed to drive in US and can I drive immediately after landing in US from airport.

Thanks much for the help

Your visit is temporary and your car is rented. You are just like any other Cdn visiting the US and renting a car. Your Cdn DL is valid, and you either have covergae provided by your employer, by their credit card, or by yours, or you take the coverage offered by the renatl firm.

Check with your employer on how they wnat to pay for covergao n your renatl car. Your personal insurance shpould not be used for business trips.

Your Cdn DL is all you need if you are temprary.

An Intl DL is not really a driver's license. It is merely a document that informs several countries (which do not speak english) that you have a valid DL in you home country.

US has no problem recognizing and reading a Cdn DL.

Do you fancy yourself as a king or queen of the road?
Would you like to take part in TVs most extreme motoring show?
If the answer is yes – email drivingshowinfo@blinkfilmsuk.com for more information
