Is an international driving license from CAA in Canada valid in UK?

Yep - But you might want to check for how long. Usually like 6 months or so, before you're expected to get a UK license.

It's no longer necessary to have a temporary intn'l driving license for the UK. Your own Canadian DL is good for 1 year, and then you will have to take your UK license. That's what we were told. Don't pay the CAA, as they will still gladly sell you one to make the money.

I'd get it anyways - If you're looking at travelling outside the UK in various countries in Europe it's mandatory to have..It's like $40 and I used mine a few times more than I thought I would. It would just be a pain in the butt to get over there, if and when you do need it.
