Hi -
I've done some searching on this site but think I may have a unique situation:
I'm a dual US and Canadian citizen. Born in US, moved to Canada and naturalized.
I am currently incorporated in Canada, where I work as an IT consultant. Recently, I have been offered a short term contract in the state of WA and wish to pursue that as a contracted corporate resource.
Having US citizenship seems to exclude me from me from taxation treaties between the two countries or even filing the appropriate form for a 'Foreign Entity' because I, personally, have US citizenship.
I don't mind paying the US taxes, as I'll get a credit against my Canadian ones. But how do I set up my Canadian corporation to be the recipient of payments from the client and then have it, in turn, pay me when I'm physically in the US?
My company would be a sub-contractor to another one. They want me to either submit IRS form W-9 or W-8BEN. W-9 ignores my foreign status and W8BEN explicitly states I'm not eligible since I have US citizenship.
Thanks in advance for any insight or advice.
