DVD Player

Post Fri Oct 15, 2010 8:35 am

Hello! I'm working towards relocating in the UK in late spring. My DH and I have hundreds of DVDs, including some hard-to-replace classics, and I understand that UK DVD players work on another zone, so our DVDs won't work. Can DVD players, stereos & televisions be operated safely with an adapter of some sort? Can DVD players be reprogrammed for a North American zone?

Some DVD models have hidden menus which can be used to turn off the region code, which is reads the region code on on the DVD. I believe setting it to 0 allows it to play anything.

There is an article on moneysaving expert web site... just search DVD. (sorry this form won't let me post links).

Laptops should be able to play any region so if you connect your laptop to your TV that could work too.
