E-verify for resident of Canada

I was just wondering if anyone had gone through E-verify by an employer as a resident of Canada using Canadian ID on the I-9? I.e. you used your SSN card and Canadian ID as proof you are allowed to work.

I watched a demonstration of it and looking at the way it checks information I couldn't figure out how it would work for cross-border commuters or people who are residents of Canada who work temporarily in the US. It seems to check local information based on the address provided but they have no access to Canadian information so that looks to me like it could cause problems for us.
