The first thing to do is found out what type of visa you would be eligible to apply for.
In any case , you need a visa before moving to the UK.
The easiest is probably the
Working Holiday Makerfor the 17-30 years old.
As you are 30 you would have to apply as soon as possible for this one. This visa is good for 2 years (you have to go back to Canada at the end of the visa) and you are allowed to work 1 year out of the 2.

If you have parents/grand parents that were born in the UK (and British citizen)you could maybe get the ancestry visa (they are changing all the immigration visa at the moment so I am not sure if this is still available).
Other visas are work visas but these are very difficult to get as they are only for jobs that are in demand (they have to show that they cannot find anyone in the UK/EU to do the job). You can have a look at all the visa on here :

hope this helps

The previous post sums it all up.

Working Holidaymaker - allows you to work anywhere but only part-time or the equivalent of the half of your stay.

Work Permit - good luck with that. In order to do so, you need to get a job offer from an employer in the UK who needs to prove that nobody else in the UK can do the job you applied for. Pretty hard to get if you are not specialized in anything. It's pretty much the only way to work full time.

You might also want to check ancestry visas if you think you are eligible.

Good luck!
