Employer Change and TN, need help!

Hey all,

I started working for Company A in USA for a little bit more than a month.

The problem is, I don't like at all my job!!!

so I've been looking for another job in USA, and got an interview coming up soon with company B.

My question is, if I do get the job with company B, how should I proceed?

1. I don't want to move all the stuff back to Canada, then move again to USA. I also bought a car when I started, I paid it in cash due to the lack of credit history.

2. Will the border officer make a big fuss over applying for a new TN only after being 2 months on the job? The visa was for 3 years.

3. Where do I return the current TN visa? to Canadian border officer when I cross? Then, should I be importing the car? Should I have someone pick me up instead to avoid the import fee?

Or do I return the TN to US border officer when I apply for a new TN?

4. Can I apply for a new TN right after returning my old TN? Basically, I'm thinking about going back to Canada on friday, and go to USA on sunday and get a new TN visa, and start work at a new company on Monday.

These are my main concerns for now...
Any help would be appreciated as always!

Thanks!!!

If you get a job with Company B, you need to go back to the border to get a new TN (or the company can file I-129 with USCIS which I think is $320). You don't need to move back to Canada, then move back to the US to get the new TN. You also don't need to import your car into Canada since you're only just driving to the border and turning around.

If you're going to the border to get the new TN, just leave the old I-94 in your passport. They'll remove it and put in the new one, and re-stamp your passport. I highly doubt they'd give you a hard time over leaving Company A after a month.

You leave, surrender your I-94, re-enter and re-apply. Or the new employer can file an I-129.

Like it says on the card, to CBSA when you leave at a land border. Just hand it to them.

If you're driving up to the Canadian border then turning around to go back into the US, the CBP officer will just take out the old I-94 and give you a new one when you apply for the new TN.
