Exchange of NY's license for Quebec's

Hello everyone,

I hold a United States driver's license from state of NY. I am in the process of moving back to Quebec, CA as I already have a PR from Canada. Since already have a driver's license from NY which hasn't expired yet I would like to exchange that license to obtain Quebec's drivers license. I decided to exchange the license as it will not require me to wait for almost a year to get the license in Quebec as in case of writing a driver's test first. My question is what is really done in the exchange driver license procedure? Would they actually cancel my license from United States or would they send my records over to NY so that DMV knows that my license as been actually exchanged in Quebec? Any insight would be helpful.

I believe that Quebec sends your NY license back to NY.

Yup. QC has agreements with the border states near it (and FL) to do just has reba sez.
