existing Tn with a passport renewal

My company is thinking of requesting a renewal of my existing Tn. I would like to renew my passport now in advance of the request so that the term of a new TN is not limited to the expiry of my existing passport. I cross the border daily. If I renew my canadian passport early, will this have any effect on my existing TN? Is there anything else I would need to do in order to keep the existing TN valid?

If your employer renews by mail, passport expiry will not be an issue; if you get new TN at the border, it will be valid for three years, but the I-94 will be limited to passport expiry date.

The I-94 is not tied to your passport; renew passport (removing I-94 before you submit it to passsport Canada) and stick it in the new one.
