Expiry date for my YMS Visa

Post Wed Oct 28, 2009 1:47 pm

Hi!

My visa is valid from Dec 29/09 to Dec 29/11. I emailed Worldbridge asking what is the absolute latest date I can arrive in the UK. I was told:

"Except where there are compelling compassionate circumstances. At the discretion of a visa officer, the expiry date of a visa can be extended for up to 3 months, provided there has been no change in your circumstances. Otherwise you should apply for another visa."

and...

"The expiry date shown on the visa is the latest date on which you can arrive in the UK, but remember that this is also the last day on which you are permitted to stay in the UK."

Just wondering if anyone who also applied for the YMS arrived in the UK AFTER the date their visa was valid (obviously not the date it expires) with or without any problems with the visa officer. I like to arrive in London mid-January 2010.

Thanks!

So you are asking if you are going to have trouble entering UK 15 days after your visa begins? Why would you even think this would be a problem? It is good for another 1 yr 11 months and 15 days!

My visa was applied for in February and I set my date of travel as april 21st. I couldnt fly until the 7th of May because of the Ash cloud from Iceland, but I had no problems whatsoever in that respect. You should be fine. You can post date your visa up to 3 months in advance from the time you apply.
