F1 at US airport

Post Sun Jan 31, 2010 5:01 pm

I am on TD status and I need to convert to F1 status this summer. However, I am going overseas for a trip and I was wondering if I can get F1 status at an US airport (LA, SFO etc) or do I have to go to Canada and enter the US through a Canadian airport or border crossing? I would appreciate suggestions and advice.
Thanks

The port of entry should not matter.

So if I show my I-20 and other documents (SEVIS etc), I can enter through a US airport from overseas without going to Canada or entering from a Canadian border?
