f1 visa, please help! please! :)

Post Sun Jan 15, 2012 1:37 am

so I want to look into getting f1 visa because truthfully, I want to be with my boyfriend. We've been together a long time and we've decided this is now or never for us to be together. The only option we can think of is me getting a student visa, I want to apply to community college as that is all I will be able to afford.

I have a GED and currently enrolled in a Canadian university in an undeclared major program.

I just worry that this is unrealistic since well, I don't know how much money I am going to need to have to prove to the US Government that I have enough funds to support myself. I would be living with him while I am there but I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel so lost and a little encouragement would go a long way right now.

I contacted my bank and they do lines of credit for students going abroad to the US so that could be an option and I plan on trying to save $2000 in the meantime. But yes. Any insight? thank you so much.

First of all, you are going to need more that $2000 to live off of while studying in the U.S. Take into consideration medical insurance which you MUST purchase as you cannot enroll into classes without it. It will run you about $1250 - $1300 per year for GOOD coverage because the ones they offer online are bogus. Most doctors will not take this type of insurance. You will also need $$$ for living expenses as you will NOT be able to work while in school. You can work on campus for NO MORE than 20 hours per week and that will not help pay the bills and such. Unless your BF is covering all of your living expenses.

If your BF is a U.S. Citizen, why not just get married and save all the trouble of getting a student visa?

How much money you need to prove to USCIS is totally dependent on the price of tuition expenses including books at the respective college you plan to attend.

If he is not a U.S. Citizen it will be really tough because you are really going to have to support yourself while in the U.S.

visajourney.com--relationship visa site!!!!

k1-fiance visa (not married) takes around 6 months. Enter the usa on your K1, have to get married within 90 days. Well you don't, you could break up still, lol

cr-1, marriage visa (already amrried before you start the visa paperwork) takes anywhere from 6 months to a year! Takes longer, BUT you get the greencard right away, you can work, travel etc etc

goto VJ and at top of the forums are guides! read them. very easy! It is the waiting that sucks! AND yes one can still VISIT the uSa, with poe officer approval. So bring ties to canada, lease agreement, utility bills, letter from employer, return airfare, proof that u filed immigration paperwork, etc etc. BUT do read VJ!! Dosregard the k3 forum, its pretty much gone the way of the dodo bird
