Family moving to Perth with three small kids...advice please

Post Fri May 13, 2011 11:43 am

Hello all...I have been using this site extensively as my family and I have been working on the application process to move to Perth. It looks as if the visa should go through in the next few months, so we of course have lots of questions.

Right now we are focusing on figuring out where we want to live..we aren't yet sure where we will be working, so I am trying to make a decision based on schooling for the kids...they will be 6, 4, and 2 when we arrive. We are hoping to rent in an area that we will potentially want to buy in. Again, because we don't know what our job situation is yet, it is hard to pinpoint a price range so I have looked at schools in a variety of areas.

I would like to be in an area where we can hopefully walk to a park or playground, in a nice area with young families, and with convenient essential shopping! I would also like to know about the type of housing in these areas...

I know it is a lot to ask, but I have been so impressed by the responses I have read, so thanking you all in advance for your input....

Anyone who is familiar with the schools or area, I appreciate your knowledge!!

Here is a list of schools I find appealing, along with their post codes..

Beckenham PS. 6107

Carramar Primary.  6031
Currambine. 6028

Duncraig  6023. I know this is a pretty pricey area...

Ellenbrook. 6069. I know this is a local intake school only...

Hampton Park. 6062...I think this is in Morley

Harmony 5785 ...this is in Atwell

Hocking. 6065

Koondoola. 6064

Woodvale...also a pricey area

Thanks again!,,,,

I have the same questions you have. Did you get any responses on where is a good place to live with children and their schools?

We are about to start the Process. BUT My Brother lives in Perth. (has been there for 3 years) He lives around the Joondaloop Area. Asby & Tapping are apparently really nice. He reccomends living close to the costal regions due to the sea breeze. :) Would love to hear how its going for you guys x Hope all is well

Hi there,
I'm also moving to Perth mid next year with my husband and 2 young children. We're thinking of Rockingham because of the lower house prices and proximity to the beach.
Just wondering how you have made out. Would love to connect with any Canadians heading over there or already there. It's quite the move!

Just wondering if any of you know of any international moving companies that will move from Southern Alberta?? I am having trouble finding any, have any of you used a moving company and what were the costs like??

Thanks!

I'd have a look here:
http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=54

There's a lady name Dorothy on that website who moved from Southern Ontario to Adelaide and then after a couple years moved to Perth. She did ship her things with her when she left.

Dorothy has been in the Perth area for a few years now and has a couple kids in school so should have information about the schools and areas.

When we first moved she was really helpful in answering my questions. It's worth asking the same question on that website and perhaps contacting her if you have more questions.
