I'm currently in the US and a US citizen, my fiance is in Canada and we're planning to be married in the next 3 months. We're not sure which route we should be taking in getting him here to the US with me. We will be married in Canada also. With the processing times we're confused if we should apply for fiance visa or not since we would be married legally by the time the process is completed. Any information would be appreciated since we don't even know where to start looking, and nothing refers to our situation.

Thanks.

You can't get a fiance visa if you're already married, and if you're getting married in Canada, a US fiance visa won't do you much good anyhow.

If the plan is for you both to live in the US after you're married, then you'll need either the K3 or a CR1. The CR1 is the better visa, and will allow him ot work as soon as he arrives in the US. Which won't be for a year by the way, it takes that long to process. So does the K3. And the way they're doing the K3 these day, its just a waste of money, go for the CR1.

Check out www.visajourney.com for info on marriage based immigration to the US.

If you plan to move to Canada to live there, check out www.roadtocanada.com for immigration information for Canada.
