Fiancee Visa - Questions

Post Sun Nov 30, 2008 12:43 pm

Hi there,

I wonder if someone could help and put our minds at rest. We are on tomorrow day 14 of the BHC having received our documnents. Would we have likely to have heard by now if it was going to be refused - is no news good news? Also does anyone know how long it takes at the mo? We have met three times and known each other 3 months and spoken on the phone every day. I am 41 and she 38

I enclosed the following:

10 pics of us together
6 months wageslips from me (I earn in excess of £40k pa)
6 months bank statements from me and 1 month from her (she has CAN 19k)
Birth certificate from me and photocopy from her
Divorce certificate from me (she lost hers and we couriered a certified copy over last Fri) but we did include divorve number in application
Letter from my Mum and best man
Phone bills
My flight tickets from 2 visits to see her in Mexico and one in Canada.
Telephone bills - hundreds of calls!
Card sent to her
couple of emails
MSN call log
My rental agreement and letter from agent saying ok for another person to stay
My tax certificate
2 untility bills
Detailed letter from each of us
Quote for evening reception and registry office quote

Based on all this and the divorce certificate for her coming later and only one month bank statement from her as she had been in Mexico on extneded holiday does anyone know if this should go through?

Thanks loads in advance

gavin1966,

Unfortunately fiancee and settlement visas can take a lot longer than Ancestry visas or student visas- I've read and heard of some taking 6 weeks. Sit tight and I promise you everything will be well- but I totally understand the anxiety bit!

Good luck!

gavin

thanks for ur pm.

the high commission approved our application one week after sending the initial e-mail that acknowledged receipt.

the list of information supplied looks similar to ours, except we also supplied a copy of my passport certified by a solicitor in england (i assume u omitted this from the list because it was obvious), plus a written reference from a schoolteacher friend of my fianceé who had met both of us together and details of savings and company pension scheme.

the only obvious snag i can see in ur application is the fact that u've known each other for only three months (in our case, it was 18 months). this is possibly causing the delay: i'm not totally certain how things work, though i suspect the application has been passed to senior officers for further discussion.

ian. :)

Hi There! I am on day 16 waiting for my spousal visa so we are in the same situation. I was just wondering if you have heard anything? Mine is a straighforward application so I'm not sure what the delay is. I am really hoping to be with my husband by Christmas.

I thought I would find out from you if there is any hope.

Thanks!
